Shakúff is the leading custom lighting partner for high-end residential clients and interior design studios. We've brought singular artistry, craftsmanship, and imagination to each collaboration, prioritizing our clients' vision and experience since 2007.
Philosophy
Craftsmanship is the repetition of technique in efforts of perfection.
Craftsmanship is the repetition of technique in efforts of perfection.
Shakúff’s design philosophy is simple: creation is a collaborative act. Each fixture we handcraft is a synthesis of discovery, planning, and vision alignment between us and the client. Our collections aim to reveal and enhance the natural beauty of light, never distorting or overpowering it.
We view glass blowing not just as an art, but as a craft. With dedication and practice, we've perfected a process that produces beautiful sculptures of light.
Every new product begins with planting the seed of an idea into the fertile soil of dynamic dialogue.
Every new product begins with planting the seed of an idea into the fertile soil of dynamic dialogue.
Shakúff’s Product Development Team combines creative and technical expertise to drive innovation. Our Founder finds inspiration in conversations, travel, and the natural world while our Product Designer draws from the tactile experience of working with materials in the showroom. Meanwhile, our Engineer approaches each project with a problem-solving mindset, experimenting with what’s at hand to invent new applications. Wherever the initial spark originates, the idea takes its true form when the team collaborates, alchemizing their unique inspirations into a cohesive vision. This meticulous process involves sketching initial ideas, rigorous prototyping, and continual refinement, culminating in the final production of our bespoke fixtures.
We partner with artisans from around the world who bring generations-old techniques to life, showcasing awe-inspiring skill and creativity. The finest glass, transformed by our master glassblowers, becomes stunning and surprising shapes. Combining glass with metal, wood, and natural materials allows us to play with juxtaposition in form to create lighting fixtures that are both ethereal and grounded.

“I collected all sorts of stuff – rocks, shells, fruit pits, sticks – and made up games that kept me and my friends entertained for hours. I loved figuring out how to meet people’s needs in the most creative and ambitious ways I could.”

Joseph’s active imagination has led him on a fascinating journey, steering him toward the arts from a young age. He’s had an interest in bringing the organic indoors since he was a child collecting stones and shells on the beaches of Israel, fascinated by how natural beauty can enhance a home and bring people together. Joseph further developed his eye for color and shape as a costume jewelry designer.
His instant fascination upon witnessing glassblowers at work in Israel sparked his life’s work, as he realized that lighting plays with the same materials as jewelry but on a bigger scale. He fell in love and set out to create a collective of artisans devoted to adding beauty to everyday life through their glass art.
The most rewarding part of his job is the opportunity to discern individuals' innate talents and adeptly position them in roles that allow them to grow both professionally and personally. He nurtures this skill constantly, through workshops and courses, and takes an active leadership role in his community. Like the brilliant installations he’s dedicated his life to, he shines brightest when fostering connections.
Joseph finds inspiration in his beautiful wife and five children every single day.

Deeply invested and always dreaming up big ideas, Jess’s genuine passion for the company inspires the entire team. Beyond lighting, you'll often find her scaling rock walls, attending Monet exhibitions, or traveling. If Jess were a Shakúff design, she’d be Crystal Shell; her friends would describe her as someone who seems straightforward, but will open up over time to reveal hidden depths.

Erno SallerSenior Engineer
Much of the ingenuity behind Shakúff’s designs comes from Senior Engineer Erno Saller’s creative mind and background in electrical systems. Erno came to us after many years of experience in the lighting industry, including working in Europe for the world’s largest non-commercial lighting manufacturer. Over the past ten years, he’s moved through the ranks of production to become our Senior Engineer. He has shined a path forward and crafted several collections that embody our commitment to beauty and technique. He’s also quite the (self-taught) painter.

Dovid SchackJunior Engineer
Dovid Schack joined our production team in 2017 as a student. Over the years, his excitement and bright ideas grew, which Josef recognized as a knack for engineering. Josef paired Dovid up with Erno, and the rest is history. Dovid is a true Renaissance soul who finds joy in restoring motorcycles and general tinkering. Dovid's favorite artist, M.C. Escher, reflects his love for intricate patterns and the endless possibilities of design — it’s no wonder his favorite part of the job is tackling tricky engineering problems. As a believer in balance in all things, he sees himself as a Bloom Chandelier. Having witnessed his blossoming as an engineer, we agree that’s a great fit.

Sophia HanProduct Designer
As our new Product Designer, Sophia is our budding luminary. She is a recent graduate in Industrial Design at Pratt, where she arrived via Seoul and Vancouver. Sophia draws inspiration from nature, especially its forms and materials. She loves when creative ideas pop up unexpectedly — that’s what makes the design process so exciting for her. Whether she’s sketching by hand or digitally, or exploring through prototypes, Sophia takes a hands-on approach, often using whatever scrap materials are around. Inspiration frequently strikes at her deskside studio, where she moves around (sometimes even working on the floor!) to turn her ideas into tangible designs.
